Post #15 (12.05.14) >> Hozenji Temple Shrine

After a satisfying dinner at Matsusakagyu Yakiniku, we took a couple of steps and found ourselves in old world Osaka.

Hozenji-Yokocho is a narrow wet-stone paved alleyway lined with traditional eateries, bars and shops.
The atmosphere in this alleyway is in direct contrast to the rest of the Dotonburi district.
Quaint, quiet, calm & relaxed compared to loud, bright and buzzing.

In the middle of this street at the Hozenji temple, is a famous Buddha statue known as Mizukake Fudo.
No coins are tossed in offering at the Hozenji Temple as they are at other Japanese temples.
Instead worshippers splash water on the Bhudda statue after they pray for good fortunes.
As a result, the statue is covered in green moss due to the water being constantly splashed/sprinkled onto him.
